The story of the church begins with Justinas Vitkauskas, a very pious 82-year-old farmer who donated 39 hectares of land in 1925 to the future house of worship. The present wooden church was built between 1933 and 1934. It takes the form of a rectangular, single-tower building, constructed in a modern style infused with folk architectural motifs. The interior of the church was completed in 1935. The building houses a rare art deco altar with a “The Heart of Jesus” sculpture by the Lithuanian sculptor Bernardas Bučas. In the churchyard there is a roofed pole dedicated to the memory of the fallen partisans, unveiled in 2000 by Dr. Romualdas Šimkūnas.
