The 7-metre-tall sculpture named the “Tree of Aukštaitija”, commemorates the year of Aukštaitija. The idea was conceived by Erikas Druskinas and realised by the well-known Lithuanian sculptor Kęstutis Musteikis.
The sculpture depicts a tree that has its roots planted in the past, while its branches and leaves reach towards the sky and the future.
The three leaves of the linden tree are linked to the Goddess of Fortune, and contain the past, the present and the future. The leaves are inscribed with the knowledge of our mythology, our tales and legends, our traditions and our belief in the power of awakening light.
