Utena Monastery of the Sisters of Divine Providence

The Utena Monastery of the Sisters of Divine Providence was established on May 21st, 2012. The monastery originates from Panevėžys and its inception traces back to 1930 when the founder, Marija Rusteikaitė, who encountered a large, impoverished family and felt the call from God to serve as an instrument of His love. Today, the Sisters of Divine Providence contribute to the Lithuanian Church's mission, guided by their founder's spirit. They primarily focus on charitable, pastoral, and educational endeavours. The Sisters aim to foster self-awareness, faith, and a conscious Christian life among individuals, encouraging a deeper understanding and application of Christian values in personal lives. Presently, there are 20 Sisters serving across Lithuania, with 4 residing in Utena. Known for their hospitality and openness, the Sisters regularly utilize the convent's conference room for exhibitions, educational activities for student groups, and seminars on Christian themes.

The chapel of the convent is open to all who seek the closeness to God. The monastery hosts solemn evenings of prayer before Easter, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

Guided tours must be arranged in advance.

The Sisters welcome everyone!
