Old Believers’ Church of St. Michael
The church was built in accordance with the tradition of old Russian architecture, with the main facade oriented to the west. The arched windows are divided by decorative muntin bars.
The church is distinguished by its tall, gabled, half-hipped roof. A massive bell tower rises above the covered porch and is surmounted by an onion-shaped dome with a cross. The shape of the dome symbolises a burning candle and fiery prayer. The silver colour of the dome represents purity and holiness.
On the eastern side of the building there is a small dome with a cross on the gable.
Inside, on the eastern wall, there are icons arranged in several tiers to form an iconostasis. This is where the spiritual father and the singers pray and where the sermon is given at the very end of the service. Men and women stand on different sides of the church hall: men on the right, women on the left. Everyone prays standing up.
