Wall painting "Tree of Life"

The wall of the house numbered 97 on Aušros Street is decorated with a "Tree of Life" mural, created by artists Goda Skėrytė from Kaunas and Ieva Olimpija Voroneckytė from Marijampolė. The mural is based on the paper cut of the same name by Utena folk artist Odeta Tumėnaitė-Bražėnienė.
The Tree of Life embodies our Lithuanian worldview. The roots represent our ancestors and the past, the birds symbolise the souls of the people, the blossoms represent the future, and the trunk represents the present.
The purpose of this art piece is not only to decorate the house, but also to promote ethno-culture, to show that folk art can be interpreted in many different ways and through a modern prism.
