Disc golf is similar to traditional ball golf, except players do not hit balls with clubs into holes, but instead throw discs into special baskets.
The game begins with a throw from a designated area or otherwise marked starting point (tee). Each subsequent throw is made from the spot where the disc landed after the previous throw. This continues until the disc lands in the basket with the final throw (putt). Trees, bushes, rivers, ponds, and other terrain features create natural obstacles, diversifying the course. Depending on where the disc lands, players may need to carefully consider the best throw to overcome each obstacle and “lay up” the disc as close to the basket as possible or even in the basket. And there are usually several possible throwing techniques and paths to choose from!
